Green Prison — Chhattisgarh

Central Jail Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh launched the 'Harit Jail' (Green Prison) campaign on 30 October 2024. Initiatives include 4,000 eco bricks, biogas from waste, vermi composting, tree planting, and bio-enzyme production by prisoners. Solar energy and rainwater harvesting were implemented. Daily water usage dropped from 4,25,000 litres to 3,10,000 litres — saving 1,15,000 litres per day. 32 water recharge structures were built.
